If you have a sunny spot for it, the Key Lime makes a brightly coloured and fragrant addition to your home. Easy to care for, the Key Lime will bear flowers and fruit off and on throughout the year. Like many citrus trees, it is especially productive in the Spring and Fall.
Glossy, oval leaves growing on spiny stems are typically accompanied by white, fragrant flowers. Those flowers are followed by 2-3 in (5-7.5 cm) bright green limes. Key lime fruit is more acidic and tart than other lime varieties. Its best known for use in pies… you know, the ‘Key Lime Pie’, but leaves are also commonly used in Asian cuisines.
