Ficus retusa, sometimes known as Ginseng ficus bonsai trees, are natively grown in Taiwan and Malaysia. They are hardy plants with thick trunks (that look somewhat like ginseng) that are easy to grow and maintain.
These trees have glossy, small, dark-green and leathery leaves which are densely populated on the branches. The Retusa is among the most tolerant, versatile and trouble-free bonsai trees that you can choose - so it's quite easy to care for!
Once acclimated to your home, they are relatively easy to care for, and are thus quite suitable for beginner gardeners. Ideally, place your Retusa directly in an eastern facing window, or a few feet removed from a southern or western facing window - avoiding prolonged direct sun or shade.
Your Ficus is a beautiful, low-maintenance indoor plant that needs minimal maintenance but will be an attractive addition to your home.
